Handprint of Rajasthan 2012-13

The Paryavaran Mitra State level Puraskar 2012-13, Rajasthan recognized the efforts of schools in environment education and education for sustainable development. 292 entries were received from 33 districts of the state. A ceremony was organised to felicitate schools of Jaipur at Rajasthan State Bharat Scouts and Guides, State headquarter, Jaipur. Read the detailed report here.

Connecting the dots to think systemically of the water around us

Under the Paryavaran Mitra-WIPRO, Water and Sustainability Project, Govt. Upper Primary School, Beethan, Jalore, Rajastan has sent in this fascinating report of their learnings of the where, why, what, how of the water they use at school. Students have looked at where the water in the schools comes from, tested for water parameters like pH, sulphate, nitrate, fluoride, looked for wastage and calculated water loss due to leakages and finally looked at water conservation strategies




Handprint actions of Rohtas, Bihar this festive season

Rohtas district of Bihar has seen a flurry of activities in the past few months starting with the Green Consumer Day celebrations with a rally by 260 students from Ishwar Chandra Vidya Sagar Academy and Bal Bharti School to create awareness on the problems of consumerism and its impact on the environment. This was followed by an Eco-Diwali campaign at the same school where 300 Students and teachers gathered to discuss issues of pollution and consumerism during Diwali. Recently the schools undertook a plantation drive of planting more than 5000 saplings of various indigenous species in more than 150 schools of the district on a single day. The Handbook is a comprehensive ready reference for teachers in any school to motivate and guide students to be Paryavaran Mitra. It includes information, and a menu of active teaching learning methods, and action projects, to engage students in exploring, discovering, thinking, sharing, and take action.
