Water Connects-Online Quiz

22nd March is World Water Day. The theme this year is ‘Water Cooperation’. The theme draws attention on sharing of the precious resource between people on local, regional, national and international level. Get to know about the topic and give a shot at the online quiz from 21-23rd March 2013 to win nature camp vouchers as prizes. The “Water Connects”campaign for schools connects the World Wetlands Day (February 2), World Water Day (March 22) and Earth Day (April 22) as all the days are connected to water issues also countering in the effects of Climate Change. It is also the United Nations-International Year of Water Co-operation. Schools are encouraged to share stories and ideas about their Hand Print on theme in their schools and communities. Paryavaran Mitra Schools participate in the Young Masters Programme

CEE has partnered with the International Institute for Industrial Environmental Economics (IIIEE) at Lund University, Sweden to launch the Young Masters Programme (YMP) on Sustainable Development in India. This Programme envisions to improve the understanding of sustainability challenges faced today; to develop tools that turn these challenges into possibilities; and to empower young people in terms of personal international networks, hands-on proactive methods, capacity building and local projects that can make a difference. This programme was launched in India on the October 14 at the ESD Conference organized by CEE during the CBD COP 11 in Hyderabad, India. The students have gone through an interesting journey through the course and some stories are shared below.

From a Gujarati medium school in Ahmedabad, the team has taken the platform as great way to learn about a sustainable way of life, collaborate, connect with friends globally, while they work on their English language skills. read more

 

Providing scope for interaction with various stakeholders Orion International School Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh

During this course, the students have developed competencies on communication and group discussion and to invite NGO representatives to their school. This is first time that the students invite an NGO representative (OHIA, Bhopal) to their school and had full-fledged interaction with him. read more

Crossing the First Hurdle Government Girls’ Higher Secondary School, Mubarak Mandi, Jammu

The YMP was a program that they had never heard of, it was not prescribed in the school curriculum and e-learning was a mode of teaching-learning that parents were not very convinced about. Read about how the school crossed this hurdle.
