You all are working for the Paryavaran Mitra Puraskar 2015 and taking initiatives to learn about the leadership in environment education and education for sustainable development through curricular classroom activities and action projects that you have undertaken. We look forward for your entry for the Puraskar. The last date for receiving the entries under all categories of the Puraskar will be 31st of October 2015.This year the process is made simpler by encouraging the schools to send soft copies of the reports.

Students ride Pune's new Rainbow BRT!

The Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) is the new smart mode of bus transportation which was recently launched in the twin cities of Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad. CEE conducted sessions on sustainable transportation in schools and students experienced the comfortable, smart rides on the BRT. Students learnt about the need for sustainable transportation, and learnt about alternatives like the BRT, cycling and walking. CEE is conducting the public outreach programme with partner IBI Group for PMPML, PMC and PCMC.


Paryavaran Mitra Earthian teacher orientation in Western Ghat (Sahyadri) schools in Maharashtra

Teacher orientation workshops were conducted in the school network of the Western Ghats Special Eco-club programme of CEE and the Maharashtra State Environment Department. Schools

in the region will look at water and its sustainability in the school and community in the context of the Western Ghats. Some context specific strands that were covered in the workshop were mapping the watershed, health of freshwater ecosystems through study of flora and fauna (MiniSASS), traditional knowledge related to the onset of the monsoon, and multiple perspectives related to water conflicts in the region.
