Paryavaran Mitra Puraskar 2013

Appreciating and acknowledging good work not only motivates the doer but also provides an opportunity to learn. With this belief, Centre for Environment Education (CEE) organized Paryavaran Mitra Puraskar (National Event) on October 14, 2014, to acknowledge the exemplar efforts in Paryavaran Mitra.

A total of about 2500 schools responded and submitted their entries in school, teacher and student categories. Through a long process of scrutiny at state level by experts in the field of education and environment that included government officials, 96 schools, 65 teachers and 57 students were nominated for the national level Puraskar.

A National Committee comprising of eminent experts in the field of education, environmental education, and environmental solutions short listed 15 schools, 14 teachers and 15 students for the Paryavaran Mitra Puraskar at national level.

The National Jury evaluated the short listed entries and identified 4 best amongst these based on contextual connection in terms educational-linkages to curriculum and classroom activities, local environmental issues, role of students, teacher and other stakeholders, outreach/dissemination of results, outcomes, effort in documenting and providing evidences, sustainability and replicability of action, mobilization of resources, information, etc.

An Educationist by choice and has completed Ph.D in Education from Hemchandra Acharya North Gujarat University, Patan. He has more than 20 years of experience of working in the field of Education and is a recipient of NCERT scholarship. He is a well known trainer in Communication, Educational Psychology, Parenting, Science and Mathematics Education, Educational Evaluation and Administration, Action Research in Education, etc. Dr. Gupta has written more than 200 articles related to education and parenting in various magazines and journals.

He has a PhD in Life Sciences and is the recipient of the Fulbright Fellowship for “Bioremediation of Heavy metal contaminated site”. Worked with Dr Rhonda Sherman in Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering at North Carolina State University, Raleigh, NC


Ms Mamata Pandya
Senior Programme Director, Instructional Design, at Centre for Environment Education, Ahmedabad, India.

Since she joined CEE in 1985, Ms. Pandya has been involved in the development of environmental education materials and programmes for teachers, students and the general public. She manages three major programmes of the Centre: Children's Media Unit, CEE Northern Regional Office, and Video Resource Centre
In 2013, she was awarded the Fulbright-Nehru Environmental Leadership Program Fellowship under which she was a visiting scholar hosted by the North American Association for Environmental Education in the USA. She has authored, edited,and co-editor over 100 publications for teachers and children.
