Environmental Education through Nature Camps:

CEE Pune, organized a two days Nature Camp for twelve selected schools of the Western Ghats special Eco club. Schools from Sakri and Navapur tehsils of Nandurbar district in Maharashtra were selected for the camp in which 40 students and 17 teachers took active participation. The students were a mixed group of interested and not so interested in nature camping. The idea here was to promote peer learning and include the non interested students towards environmental concern.
Students sung songs on nature conservation, explored the bio diversity, mountain ranges, agriculture, rivers around the camping area and also played some games to understand the environment. Many other activities followed in the two days camp and the result was obvious that the students not interested in camping began to take interest with other students in the camping activities. This is a very good example of how students learn from each other and when learning is made fun for them.
