About YPL

Climate Change, threat to biodiversity, changing life-styles, increasing pollution level, decreasing availability of water, dying  river systems are not only global issues but affects locally as well. Uttar Pradesh is aggrieved with all the above issues. On one hand we have environment conservation policies and concerned departments doing their tasks, however to address these issues we all need to join hands and work together. In this joint collaboration, role of students as youth is of great significance as they are not only endowed with young energetic and innovative minds but also have the zeal and enthusiasm to bring out innovations, implement positive Hand Print actions for the benefit of all. Secondly if they are made ready to strive for Sustainable development, the coming generation will then surely head towards Sustainable Development.

Understanding the above critical role of students in motivating their own school, neighborhood and larger society to bring about change, Centre for Environment Education (CEE) in collaboration with Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB) is launching the much awaited 'Uttar Pradesh Yuva Paryavaran Leader programme' to create a state wide cadre of motivated young students as Change Agents. The programme aims to inspire confidence and motivation and build the skills and abilities of students by grooming their leadership qualities.

A. Q 12. What is project action plan?
A. Project action plan is basically a blue print of a plan which you make to take up or solve any socio-environmental issue which you see around your school, community. It is a document which outlines the time-line of your project, tasks to be done and accomplished, budget planning etc. For more ideas on this, one may refer the 'resource' section on the programme website.

Q 13. What action projects can I take up and how do I raise funds to do my project work?
A. Action projects should be focused around any environment and sustainable development issue which according to you is something that pinches you and you feel that you can do something to solve that issue. Hence the projects could be centred around energy conservation, Biodiversity and Greening, water conservation and promoting sanitation and hygiene, waste management, promoting culture and heritage of that locality etc.
As you are a student and will have limited funds with you, hence the projects should be thought of and designed accordingly. CEE will not provide any kind of funding to do the projects, neither will encourage to go for projects which might require huge funds.
A format and some project action ideas will be available in the 'announcement' and 'resources' section of the programme webpage from 2nd August 2014 onwards.
